After serving as a law enforcement agent in Maine, John graduated from Northeastern University School of Law and commenced his legal career as a trial attorney with the Committee for Public Counsel Services. While serving as a public defender for three years, he represented individuals charged with a wide assortment of major felonies. In 1992, John entered private practice, and in 1995 he established his own firm. During the next several years he specialized in areas including civil litigation and business law. John is admitted to practice before the state courts of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

After graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Rob attended the New England School of Law. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1997 and commenced his legal career as a trial attorney who has specialized in complex civil litigation, criminal law, and real estate. He has tried many criminal and civil cases to completion in the Commonwealth's District and Superior Courts, he has represented clients in the Appeals Court and the Supreme Judicial Court, and he has negotiated numerous settlements and plea bargain arrangements with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the office of the United States Attorney. Rob is admitted to practice before the state courts of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Michael A. Costello joined Andrews & Updegraph in 2006, of counsel. Michael Costello served as City Counselor in Newburyport, Massachusetts and is currently a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the First Essex District. As a State Representative, Mr. Costello serves on the House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight and the Joint Committee on the Judiciary. He was recently named Chairman of the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security. Representative Costello attended Salem State College and Suffolk University Law School where he obtained his Juris Doctor. He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Essex County where he amassed extensive jury trial experience. Representative Costello is a life long resident of the North Shore and currently resides in Newburyport, Massachusetts.
